Different Worlds

Had dinner with a friend earlier today. Haven’t seen her in a while, as she’s been busy with the Industrial Project which I did only a year ago. I recall that semester, cramming 5 subjects and I was so busy I slept little, not because of school work, but only because I wanted to go socialise and play computer games. I was recalling my experiences to her, and looking back now, with all the knowlege I’ve acquired in the past 12 months, the project my group did doesn’t seem as daunting anymore. Of course, I didn’t have the knowledge or experience on how to tackle it then, so things seemed a lot harder than they really did.

After dinner, met up with another friend. This friend of mine graduated the same time I did, but as he’s been more hardworking with handing in job applications, he’s now working at the local Ernst and Young. He relates his working experience to me, where he works by day and comes home just to have dinner, watch some TV and go to sleep. Even during the weekends, he doesn’t feel like doing much and just wants to stay home and rest. This sounds very much like the description a friend gave me when I chatted with her over ICQ last night. Heh, work by day, sleep by night, only enjoying a little in the weekends.

I’m probably one of those still in limbo, neither studying nor working. You could call it a little of both, doing some part time web jobs while learning basic web scripting and database manipulation commands. I’d really love to land a job with security (monthly pay, something to do, career possibilities), but then again, you give up some of the freedom of loving life doing the things you do. When already have something, we always want something else, be it studying to working, and working to just being a student again. Heh, I guess it’s a compromise.

Well, enjoy whatever you’re doing while you can.
