Doing another web development project at the moment. Working at home I sometimes leave lunch on my desk. Been having the scent of tuna whiff in and out of my nose for the last couple of hours. Kinda fishy. Finally decided to clear out the offending tin can.
It is an experience, working with different clients and you can’t please everyone. However, most clients I’ve worked with so far are more interested in getting content up and being heard on the world wide web. Design is secondary in nature, so my emphasis is on making layouts presentable and legible. I do try to make designs as pleasing as possible and I know I can’t please everyone, but I try my best. I’m still in the process of determining the methodology of working with clients. I’ve been shuffling emails back and forth, and sometimes I think it’s just good to spend 10 minutes sitting with a client and fleshing out the ideas of what they want. I get faster feedback and immediately know if something is supposed (or not supposed) to be done. However, I don’t really have the luxury of this at times, because usually my clients are busy doing their day to day jobs.
This current job I’m doing involves me coding everything from scratch, using a text editor. I get better design control, at the expense of needing to manually update every single page when I make structural changes. Well, that’s the best you can get with static webpages, unlike this site, which has its content served off a database, so effecting layout changes only requires me to edit 2 HTML and CSS files.
Heh, another perq from working at home. Random blog posts and listening to your favourite music.
