Everyday feels the same now. Before this, you could feel the weekend creeping up on you when you attend certain classes during the week. Now, I wake up to the same old sun, same kind of clouds and weather.
Today I was the solitary soul at the Seafood Department in David Jones, at least only in the afternoon. My boss wanted to rest, and taught this old monkey some new tricks like how to end the day’s transactions and close the register. I was left to idle for an hour or so and it was only just before closing I got a little busy, serving customers and cleaning up. Heh, the only things left for me to learn now are how to cut/clean the various types of fish and make sushi (both of which requires more culinary skill than I’ll ever have).
Tomorrow is much of the same I guess. A lot of shops have taken the whole Christmas to New Year’s off (for some reason, a public holiday that falls on a Saturday here gets transferred to Monday as Saturday is supposed to be a weekend holiday on its own) so there’s been little supply of fish lately and there’s nothing left to sell.

Heh, was wondering, does working make people more materialistic? Only like 6 months ago I’d only dream of a Nikon D70, the 4 digit price tag was an impossible mountain to climb when your income was zero and no amount of saving would justify it. Now it’s like a lot of stuff is attainable if you just work hard enough. I don’t exactly splurge on stuff, but I don’t have to be miserly about it at all anymore as well, with the only thing I spend in abundance on are technical gadgets and food.
While I’m still writing this post, might as well get an opinion. Was thinking of either the Off Trail 1 or Photo Runner as a camera bag, although I’m not sure which one is more versatile. Leaning towards the latter, as you can dangle a tripod off it and it also has a shoulder strap. It needs to be able to fit a camera with lens, a speedlight, an extra zoom lens plus maybe a couple of other miscellaneous stuff like CF cards and some extra batteries. It’s probably easier to just go take a look and get a feel for it.
This old monkey can still learn a few new tricks.
