No Shopping Spree

You know how sales assistants in shops like to come up to you and ask how are you, can I help you etc? I avoid them by listening to my iPod and just ignore my surroundings except the things I look at. 95% of the time I get away with it, with some people still coming up to you and asking you questions even when you can’t really hear them. Heh. (I’m supposed to do this at my shop as well, to entice people into buying something, although I’m not as good at it, so shoppers beware!)

I get the chance to finally go shopping and all the sales items are gone. Not that there was really very much I’d like to buy to begin with. Only thing I’ve been dreaming of lately is a 1400W espresso machine like what my friend’s using. That and a stack of lenses for the Durian* I’m gonna acquire. Been looking at all these wonderful lenses, those within my budget, and those I’d probably only buy if I was a serious photographer or a multimillionaire. Got some input from pros in a Malaysian photography forum and they all had valid points, although some of them I can’t put into practice because I can’t afford them so called lenses. A 180mm prime Nikon lens? You have to be kidding me, these lenses cost more than the D70 and the kit lens combined. Sure you get the image sharpness and the speed with a 2.8F lens, but do I need such speed and sharpness? I probably do, but not at the kind of price where if I coughed up the money, I’d be eating instant noodles for an entire year.

Sort of settled on the Nikon 28-200mm G lens. It’s a relatively cheap lens that covers the focal length I need for spying on pretty girls taking closeups of people without being too obvious to get candid shots. It’s a light (not to mention small, most importantly), travel kind of lens, good for me to carry around and not get a back ache.

Today I intended to do more than window shopping, to actually take out my wallet and spend my hard earned cash. However, nobody had anything I wanted to buy. Oh well…

* The funny story to this was that I had the D70 on my MSN nick a month ago and my cousin thought it was some new durian species, like the tasty D24s. So now I will just call it the ‘Durian’
