Heh, I recall growing up with cartoons. Coming home from kindergarten, my mom or aunt would sit me in front of the TV and feed me lunch while I glued my eyes to the television set. A half hour of cartoon action was an eternity in a kid’s lifetime. Back then there were cartoons such as Transformers, He Man, Thundercats, Tom & Jerry, Ducktales and what not. Heh, heck, I even remember the even kiddier cartoons like Care Bears, My Little Pony etc.
It’s amazing how each episode is etched into your memory. These days, everything you watch is just a passing moment in your busy life and schedule, somehow all the special effects in movies don’t seem to captivate your attention as much anymore. I guess a poor storyline contributes to the lack of credibility of a movie. Which is the thing with cartoons, no matter how far fetched or silly it gets, I still willingly watch and want to find out the ending.
These days, other than anime, the other things that tickle my fancy include cartoons I used to watch on Cartoon Network (back when Astro included it in a regular package). Heh… you wouldn’t believe it, but I actually enjoy watching the Powerpuff Girls in action. I remember Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles, but fail to assign a specific face to each of these names. I do remember the monkey villain, Mojo Jo jo was it? Quite cute actually. I think he’s just a poor, misunderstood personality who is bent on taking over the world.
Recently discovered the exploits of Kim Possible. Heh, heard of her before but never caught her on the television screen before until a cousin plunked his DVD into the player. It’s amazing, but I’m actually fascinated and attracted to this kind of heroine persona. Haha, let’s just say the people at Disney did their homework right and created a character that appeals to the teenage male market, if that was the intended market anyway.
Heh, the only other cartoons of note I’ve watched are the animated X-Men and Batman series of the early to mid 90s and the new Justice League series. Note that I’m a sucker for comic book characters.
Hmmm… there are probably other things I’ve watched over the years, but can’t really recall at the moment. Hope to watch very many more of them in the future.
