Yesterday

Would have posted this yesterday, if I wasn’t so dead at the very end of the day. Was insomniac the night before and only crammed in 2 hours of sleep before shuffling myself off to work at 650am. And so my day began.

Yesterday, my day ended with me waking up long enough just to call up my grandma to wish her happy birthday. It’s her 80th birthday, with family all at my uncle’s place, and everyone cooked something fabulous to bring there. Heh, I’m not there to take candid pics, nor was I there to sample the good food of home. Am missing this daily.

Before the end of the day when the sun was going down, went to a friend’s place just for the monthly (sort of) meet up to catch up. Jon had sourced some yee sang so that our local friend David Lee could try some of the stuff. It’s like way past Chinese New Year already, and what more interesting combo to eat this with pizza after that. I’d have to say this is a first. Watched Dodgeball after that, and I find Ben Stiller’s type of comedy most appealing to me, although I’d say it’s not for everyone.

Never saw the sun much during the day either. The sky kept pouring it’s heart out, and I was helping my friend move stuff from his old place to his new one. We were moving things in garbage bags (all in black), so it looked kinda funny, especially my friend, dressed all in black, like some Agent Smith kind of santa claus.

Before the sun came up, was already shuffling myself off to work. I find it makes a very big difference doing anything at all with an iPod blasting tunes into your ears. Walking to work seemed less lonely, setting up the ice displays for the fish seems to progress a lot faster with your favourite songs. Had to can my iPod when I started whacking all the seafood out. I have a phobia of killing my earphones by ripping the wires out when I stoop or bend over and accidentally get it tangled in some mess. One yank and bye bye earphones (I’ve done it before, so no exploring earphone heaven again).

Kym came to work yesterday and whenever she’s at work, the place livens up a bit. Heh, or so I’ve noticed. She’s a pretty girl with the sweet smile and all, so a lot of customers have chatted her up when they come to buy stuff. Everyone has some story to tell when they’re talking with her. The funny bit was when Kym greeted the chef from next door. My boss immediately said,”She said hello, it means today we’ll have breakfast.” And sure enough, a few minutes later, the chef dude came with a couple of sandwiches, all nicely wrapped up. We were all laughing and our boss told her to say hi to him again, and then we might get lunch as well. Heh, never underestimate girl power.
