My colleague consistently asks me on Friday whether I have anything planned for the weekend and my answer is consistently ‘Nope, don’t have anything planned.’
Heh, that isn’t false, as I really don’t plan anything, but activities are dictated by what’s happening on the weekends. Friends usually just call to go out for lunch/breakfast/tea etc. Then there’s the usual Saturday evening English Premier league matches that are usually worth a watch every now and then. Just came home from Aston Villa vs Liverpool. Dull match at best, heh. Just felt that the whole midfield was sloppy and no one was controlling the ball until a foul on Peter Crouch in the box sealed Aston Villa’s fate when Gerrard confidently despatched the resulting penalty kick.
Some weekends, when no one is free to entertain me, I just pick out an anime series on my list and try and get it done with. One series usually last 26 episodes, so I tend to start them earlier in the week and cram the good bits to the weekend when I can watch everything in one sitting.
Other times I’m just sitting in front of my computer playing the latest game. Had a go at Civilization 4 just this morning. Heh, fun game. Was introduced to the concept a couple of years back with Civilization 3 on my laptop. Spent hours on that game and only turned on my study lamp during the wee hours of the night for illumination while playing the game. The latest game has a little clock function that displays the time in game so you can at least keep track of the time. Had I not played something similar before, I really do believe that one can play the game without worrying about food or rest. However, that’s the thing with games these days. They never hook me as much as they used to. Recall waking up at wee hours of the morning while I was still in Malaysia just to get an hour of gaming before going to school. When you’re in highschool, you’re impressionable and everything is exciting. The PC gaming industry has matured quite a bit and while the fancy graphics have improved exponentially, gameplay has not. Earlier games were more addictive maybe simply because they were less complicated, or so I feel. That and you didn’t require a beefy graphics card to run it. These days, most new titles that come out require the latest gaming cards for all the eye candy (something within the previous year or so), so unless you upgrade often, you might be able to play the game but not get the most out of it.
The rest of it? Cleaning up my ever messy room I guess. Which reminds me (looks at messy pile on the floor)…
