Today is officially the first day of summer (it seemed like it started for me a long time ago).
I think I did previously mention that December would be a busy month. Today kicks off with my finance exam paper. Heh, sipping coffee and blogging now before I head off to the library for one last ditch attempt at studying. Next week there is a clash of Melbourne Victory vs Sydney FC at the Telstra Dome, of which I already have procured tickets for. Then on the Saturday I attend my colleague’s housewarming. Company Christmas party on the Wednesday before I fly off and arrive in KL Thursday morning just in time for breakfast. Brother’s wedding on the Saturday I go back, with the wedding dinner the subsequent Friday. Phew, long list of activities.
Missed out on a chance to go to a Robbie Williams concert and had to sell off my ticket. His gig was on while I was away, heh. Hopefully there’s next year and my friends are inclined to go to his concert again.
The year’s really gone by so quickly. There was the World Cup, studies, some strenuous work periods when colleagues were away. Had fun too, some birthday parties, and started cooking lots more. Learnt quite a bit this year. Spent quite a bit on gadgets and toys. This is probably the year of lens procurement (well, the start of using eBay as a supply source) with me getting the 105mm macro, the 85mm, the 70-200 and my latest 12-24. Lenses will probably last longer than any of my computer upgrades so while it is a pinch now, I won’t be buying very many other lenses from now on (other than a proper macro, most likely the Tamron 90mm, unless I win the lottery and can plonk down for the Nikon 105mm VR.
)
Upgraded my PC earlier in the year (has it been that long?) to a dual core system. That was in early March and now my system is like a dinosaur compared to what’s on the market, which is also available at a cheaper price. Intel released the Core 2 Duo for their desktop which is not only much cheaper but also has more overclocking potential. Even so, this is the first system I have that doesn’t feel like it’s limited in anyway and it has been operating quite reliably in the last few months too. Can only foresee a graphics card replacement next year (around this time if I can stay itch free for that long) for some better eye candy and to be able to max out my screen’s resolution in games (graphics cards follow a specific product replacement lifecycle, and the best bang for buck cards usually occur late in the year around October, and this is after two year’s worth of observation). Heh.
* * *
We are left to wonder, and remind ourselves that we should be honest to ourselves. We have been given opportunities to achieve things, so we should not squander it too often and appreciate what we have as moments in life can be so fleeting sometimes. Heh, just wish the year to end with a good bang.
