Catching the Light

grapes

Was at South Melbourne market yesterday just grabbing some groceries when I came across these translucent grapes overhanging the shelf. The light through the sun roof just lit up enough that it left a bright glow on the grapes and I took the opportunity to grab a photo.

Was never a fan of the 50mm angle of view previously and was pretty much disappointed with the 50mm f/1.8 I had as I never really shot it wide opened as I didn’t really like the characteristics of the lens. The current 50mm f/1.2 I have has changed that and I manage to find ways to frame pictures with that angle of view.

It’s probably because I’ve been shooting primes of late and I’ve been practising manual focus a lot more these days, but I do feel more comfortable with getting the shot I want through manual focus. Heh, it doesn’t beat autofocus for events when you need to be quick, but I haven’t shot much of late that pressures me to churn out results quick.

The cold is sort of setting in now, with temperatures hanging around the 10 degree mark. Flu season is in swing, with Vyanne having caught the bug working in an enclosed office space. I’m just trying to keep warm, drinking fluids and not sleeping at odd hours to stay in shape. The busy week of work starts tomorrow.
