When you get a beautiful day, going to the beach usually yields some great pictures. Was at Williamstown mid afternoon and grabbed this scene as I saw the lines from the pram all the way to towards the sea and found it picture worthy.

Refresh your browser! Finally shipped my new design. Well, it’s not much changed, as I kept my single column design but have upgraded the code underneath to be HTML5 compliant. Got the base theme from here and just removed the sidebar. Kept most of the tags and elements while adding my own spice to it. With CSS3, and with a CSS3 compliant browser (pretty much any modern browser version within the last year or so), you get all the pretty effects without me needing to do much design work in Photoshop. There are the drop shadows, rounded borders as additions, and I also played around with element layering. Also finally took a little effort to get the javascript running (courtesy of MooTools to get the sliding effect) for the navigation panel up top.
The top panel is a little of an afterthought as I only decided to add it late on in the design process. I wanted to get the website out of the way and focus on other things.

Have changed the way I approach things these days. Previously I’d like to do things as I’d imagine them to be, and the effects usually come out all wrong and even if I figured it out, I stuck to how I saw things. I decided I’d need to be a little more flexible with how I dealt with stuff so these days when I hit a roadblock, I try to think through what I’ve done wrong and you need to be bold in implementing changes just to get back on track.

Heh, being away from work has allowed me to get the things I wanted to do done. Some are in the process but at least the finish line isn’t some obscure date down the road. Just need to keep the momentum going.
