When You Just Need to Write

notre dame from the back

Not your usual view of Notre Dame cathedral, but the front was rather cluttered with tourists, so this image makes it without all those distractions and provides a slightly mythical view.

I know I’m the kind of person who works well when given feedback immediately, so it’s probably why I’m failing at all those long term projects I have set out to do but haven’t completed yet. It usually gets done in due time, but sometimes I wish I could give myself a kick in the butt to get going faster.

I need to pick up the camera and go shoot more. I’m at the point in time where I don’t like there’s anything new to offer from the set of pictures I’ve taken. It’s not an issue I didn’t already know about, but the workshop has sure got the ball rolling on me needing to reinvent myself a little. It’s mainly to take pictures from a different perspective, with more negative space usage or other elements.

I’ve been back 2 weeks now, so whatever that’s on my agenda that hasn’t moved along is getting a mini review in my mind just so I can figure out why I’m not doing it.

Nikon should be announcing their new pro line in a few days. I’d be keen to see what they’ve improved, and it’s probably something that’s not in my budget to acquire. Having said that, using a GF1 has shown what I like about general purpose photography. I like something small that doesn’t get in my way and delivers great images. The D300 is a proven camera when I am at a location just to take photographs, but when travelling, it is too heavy and does get in the way of me enjoying the environment.

Panasonic will be announcing a pro version of the GF series late this year, and really compact kit lenses sometime soon as well. Heh, I enjoy travelling, and I’m thinking about the gear required, so anything new for these purposes would be quite compelling.

Keeping the blog busy so that I produce something frequently to keep me motivated on the things I should be achieving.
